This is a New Old Stock (NOS) Genuine lower tailgate assembly in its original Land Rover packaging. It fits all Series 2 2a 3 Land Rovers. It also fits Australian Army Perenties.
A rare treasure!
This reinforced tailgate variant, featuring an inward-facing galvanised steel plate with pressed reinforcing ribs for added strength, was introduced very late in Series 3 production (we never got them in Australia). It carried over to the early 90 and 110 Land Rovers, including the Australian Army Perenties. The earlier and more familiar variant, fitted to all Australian Series from 1958 onwards, has riveted galvanised strips rather than a galvanised steel plate with pressed ribbing. This earlier type is unobtainable as a quality reproduction.
